What are Your 2023 Podcast Monetization Goals
Time to get off the fence
At the end of 2022, I signed on with my last brand partner for the year. I also realized that I had earned just under $30,000 in podcast monetization efforts since 2021. This doesn’t include different areas of monetization that I focus on for other parts of my overall brand.
Why am I sharing this with you?
Podcasters Getting Paid’s primary focus is helping hosts and producers of small podcasts monetize their work when they’ve made the decision to monetize. What I’ve noticed is that most podcasters believe the lie.
You have to get 10,000 downloads a month minimum to begin monetizing.
Real talk-Currently, I’m getting well under that download number
In order to monetize you need to use the CPM model. So getting $25 (for example) every 1,000 downloads is GREAT!
NOPE-Don’t believe the bullsh$t. My partnerships ranged between $500-$14,500 in the past 2 years. Yes, you read that last number correctly.
Monetization is primarily sponsorships.
Nope-Podcasting is in the CREATIVE space. There are an endless number of ways to make money. I cannot stress this enough.
With this in mind I have a few questions for you to consider this week.

Here’s what I’ve learned about monetization and the impact that it’s had on my life.
Monetizing has given me confidence!
Bringing money in with my creative work has allowed me to continue working on my show(s)
It has given me the opportunity to say “no” to projects that don’t serve me well.
The SMALL WINS are the most important. They help to build your confidence.
It takes a surprisingly smaller amount of paying projects, etc. to make a big difference in a creator’s financial life.
That income has allowed me to rest easy during the most of 2020 when I had passive income coming in and other projects. And it was so helpful when I caught COVID this Fall and it took 3 months for me to feel like myself again.
