In the past couple of weeks I’ve had a couple of conversations with amazing content creators who were feeling a little stuck and overwhelmed. In this instance, they were high achieving Black women like myself who also happened to be multi-passionate content creators. They had several area of passion, interest and expertise. Those interests had found their way onto the internet as websites, podcasts or even YouTube channels. With each interest the creator’s focus became split more and more until a slightly toxic combination of personal expectations, dreams and business goals co-mingled into analysis paralysis.
As a creator with FOUR projects that I’m concurrently building, I 100% understand what it’s like to be passionate about so many things and wanting to share my take, expertise and passion for those areas of interest. This newsletter is inspired by the conversations that I had this week.

10 Critical Lessons Learned
These lessons were hard earned.
If you’re building multiple projects at the same time, one will naturally end up being your primary project. This will happen because of timing, your own energy, interest in the topic and audience engagement. Out of the four projects that I’m working on Creators Getting Paid is my primary project because of what I shared above. There’s an ease to the project and the growth that I’m able to lean into.
Each project will monetize differently. This will naturally happen because of the topic being covered, what your audience responds to and monetization fit.
If you’re the “face” of all of your brands-the harder it will be to grow your work.
You don’t need social media for every project you’re growing.
You DO need to build an email list for every project you’re working on.
Not everyone needs to know the projects that you’re working on. Be mindful of the audience that you’re in front of.
When you’re growing multiple projects-you’ll likely grow your brand(s) much more slowly because your focus is split. And, that’s ok. Having multiple projects has kept me interested and engaged in creative work.
Pausing a project may be the way that you bring life back into a project. I stopped working on one of my brand for a year and recently rebooted that project. I’m enjoying it and am having a much better experience with it.
Revisit the goals that you have for each project-Those goals will change and each goal requires a specific type of action. Make sure your systems and actions are aligned with your goals. If you’re looking to grow your income are your actions and systems aligned with that goal?
Your systems may make or break your project-The more complicated your content creation process, the more challenging it will be to gain the traction you’re working towards for your project.
Imposter Syndrome is a Dream Killer
In 2025 we need to kick Imposter Syndrome to the curb. There are a lot of truly mediocre folks doing work that they clearly shouldn’t be doing. Everyone in the Creators Getting Paid community who is asserting an expertise for a certain are of interest or focus ABSOLUTELY has the experience to make this claim.
How do I know this?
Because you are so thoughtful and careful that there’s now way you would make a claim of expertise or being knowledgable without a ton of lived experience.
