Podcast Movement Evolutions 2023 Review
Don't Let Podcast Industry Professionals Kill Your Vibes
It’s a beautiful day in Denver as I work on this week’s newsletter. I’m enjoying the heat (it’s around 70 degrees-before the snow comes in) I just wrapped up editing the two podcasts that I’m going to share with you today and have spent some time reflecting on last week’s Podcast Movement Evolutions 2023 experience. As podcasters, we often are in spaces filled with a diverse rage of people who are sharing their creative works.
*In order for me to support my blogging activities, I may receive monetary compensation or other types of remuneration for my endorsement, recommendation, testimonial and/or link to any products or services from this newsletter*
I loved learning from them, laughing with them and building community with them as well. I accomplished those goals. As we move forward and make plans to attend Podcast Movement which will be held in Denver this summer.
I did want to share the differences between the two events (Podcast Movement vs. Podcast Movement Evolutions) and what I perceived as the value in attending both. I share the “Best of” and some areas of improvement. I used to host events weekly for 10 years at a university-there is always room for improvement.

Don’t Let Podcast Industry Professionals Kill Your Vibes
Last week at Podcast Movement Evolutions I had three really frustrating and unexpectedly bad interactions with industry professionals. It has been so long since I’ve had problematic interactions professionally that they really caught me off guard.
I realized that not everyone wants to hear what I have to say.
That the CPM model doesn’t work or make sense for smaller shows.
That it is possible for smaller shows to make money and monetize their content.
That we don’t have to be dependent on the whims of others in order to produce our creative works.
That there is more than one way to “do a thing”
People often dislike and pushback at folks who disrupt the narrative that they believe in or are committed to. In my case, it’s that small podcasters can make money with their content and F#ck the CPM Model (which doesn’t work for smaller shows).
I want to prepare you for those moments when people pushback at what you have to share, doubt your expertise or are disrespectful as you make your way through podcasting spaces.

Next Week’s Newsletter-Affiliate Marketing and Affiliate Networks Part 2 (All subscribers)
A couple of weeks ago I shared some insight into affiliate marketing and what podcasters should consider when adding affiliate marketing to their monetization strategy. Next week I will be sharing the following recorded interview with Jeannine Crooks she is the Partner Acquisition & Development Manager at Awin Global. Jeannine is a frequent speaker at several conferences, including Affiliate Summit, TBEX, WITS, CardCon, and FinCon.
Jeannine has just been elected to the Board of Directors of the PMA - Performance Marketing Association. I’ve actually known Jeannine for many years as she and I belong to a blogging group together here in Denver.
It’s a video conversation and covers a lot of what people need to know and consider before affiliate marketing.
