Today’s Newsletter
There is a content creator that I follow on Threads who shares a series that he calls “Things are getting strange ∞” I feel like each day in the U.S. has become increasingly aggressively-unpredictable in a way that has the potential to derail focus, goals and creativity. At the beginning of 2025, I went on an 8 day planning retreat on the boarder of Washington State and Oregon. I’m so freaking glad that I did that. This year has proven to be more exhausting in some ways than I anticipated.
I’m sharing this to say that if you’re struggling emotionally, energetically, etc. I want you to feel seen in this moment. That’s why I talked about not getting the results that you’re wanting in last week’s newsletter.
Earning Money Online is Hard
Until it isn’t….
Yesterday, I had a great time hanging out, brainstorming and connecting with some of the Creators Getting Paid community members during co-working hour. One of the things that I was struck by was that we were still energized, focused and trying to make things happen.
But, I left yesterday wanting to share (briefly) what I’m focusing on as we head into the summer holiday season. I plan on sharing more about this in the next couple of weeks.
What I’m Doing…
I’m actively working to stay sane as I grow my brand. It’s not always easy, but I’m trying. Here are a few actions that I’m taking to keep things moving in the right direction.
Focusing on Movement
I get my best ideas and inspiration when I go for a walk, bike, hike, yoga, etc. I think it’s like when people take a shower-and they’re struck by an amazing idea. I’d stopped moving as much as I should and my ideas slowed down. Now movement is a non-negotiable part of my day.
Letting Stuff Go
This is a great time of year to tighten things up and create space for the things that “serve” you. In my case I had a once a month local radio show that I loved contributing to that began to really stress me out about 5 months ago. It became clear to me that I needed that time back to focus on what I was building. I’m happy to announce that this week was the final week for that project and I feel a HUGE since of relief not having to work on that project each month.
Integrating Rest/Fun with Work
Currently, I have no plans to travel beyond my regular road trips around Colorado and to New Mexico. I do plan on working from the different towns that I road trip but I won’t be attending conferences until September. It’s important to me to build joy into my brand building experience. I’m also acknowledging that I’ll likely have to take small breaks frequently throughout the rest of the year to manage my mood and energy.
Simplifying My Product Stack
If there’s a product (or, products) that aren’t selling or a revenue stream that hasn’t been working-it’s time to let most of those go. Right now isn’t the time to use the limited bandwidth that I have to try to figure it out. I have the energy to test one thing out not 3 or 4. I can always return to it later.
Doubling Down on Marketing
I run a social media “lite” brand. That means I’m marketing in different ways that don’t necessarily include social media. It pains me to admit that I’ve dropped the ball when it comes to marketing my work in 2025. I plan on changing that in the next couple of weeks.
I got some feedback that I was sharing a lot of content (good) but that people needed more time to go through it LOL!
Previous Newsletters
I share a lot of content in the newsletter and it can be hard to stay caught up with it. Today I’m sharing a couple of my favorite previous newsletters. Keep an eye out for new case studies, etc.
Ebooks Are a Great Way to Earn Money
I share my romance pen name with the paying subscribers in this newsletter LOL!
Coming Up
Next week is May and I’ve been feeling this has been the longest year of my life and the shortest all at the same time. I have some things coming up for Creators Getting Paid that I want you to keep an eye out for.
Continue hosting “Shhh, We’re Talking” with
of Please Hustle Responsibly and Corey Gumbs of It has been a wonderful experience and I’m excited about upcoming conversations. My Personal 31 Day Podcast Challenge-I might be insane setting this goal but I think I can do it. May is actually a great month for me to do a personal challenge. Are there business focused topics you would like me to cover on the Creators Getting Paid Podcast? Did you know that I had a podcast?
Podcast Guest Challenge-I’m still trying to decide what my goal is for this challenge. I love being a guest on other people’s shows and guesting is a HUGE part of my marketing focus for the rest of the year.
Monetization Challenge-I’m building out a free monetization challenge that will go “Live” the first week of June. Participants can begin signing up for the challenge beginning on May 1st.
In-Person Meetups-If you’re in Denver sometime this summer, I will be hosting in-person meetups. I’ve thought about doing this for awhile and now is the perfect time to get this going. I’ll share the dates as soon as I have them.
Question For You
Summer is on my mind. I tend to work A LOT during the summer months. What are your plans for the summer?
