Community Member Message
Is this you?? I received a wonderful email from a community member the other week. It was regarding my call for Podcast Interviews. He also mentioned that he will be heading to Colorado sometime this summer. If this is YOU-I can’t find your email to respond to it :( I’m not ignoring you. The email vortex ate your message. My email is: thebrandbuildinglab@gmail.com (if you’re still up for it!)
Testing Out Products is Hard Work
One of the most challenging aspects of building and growing an online brand is figuring out the right way to serve the people you’re attracting. For me, it has been a constant balancing act of giving and understanding what makes sense to sell.
Then there’s the whole issue of pricing.
For community members who have supported me since the beginning, you’ve seen me test out and try different products. There were a few core components that I thought about as I tested my way to finding the best way to serve the Creators Getting Paid community. I imagine that this tension of trying to figure out the right way to serve likely is something that you may be dealing with too.
Finding the right product fit feels like it should be so easy, but sometimes there’s so many layers to work through.
Money Mindset-This has been one of the most difficult parts of building my business. Believing that I deserve an abundant life while building a brand of that has a key foundation related to service…has been harder than I ever could have expected.
Ethics of monetization-It concerns me that it’s so easy to say “yes” to ways of making money that are just wrong. High end coaching in particular I’m unenthusiastic about.
What lights you up-I thought I would love selling courses but they weren’t quite the right fit.
Your love language and how it influences your product design.
How many people you would like to support at any given time-The number of people you work with at any given time will directly impact the cost of what you’re selling.
Product complexity-There are so many layers to designing and selling a product.
The actual product
How your clients learn about it
Customer service related tasks
Tech (with a focus on keeping things simple)
Time-How much time does it take for you to fulfill the service related to the product that you’ve created?
Timing-Is “now” the right time to launch the product, good or service you would like to share with the world?
How to Test Your Products
There are a few approaches that I take to test out the success of the products that I’m selling.
Number of clicks on the sales link-Many of the tools that we use for affiliate marketing, etc. shares the percentage of audience interaction with a sales link.
Actual product sales-are people even interested in what you’re selling?
How are you feeling as you deliver the product to your community members/customers.
Happy?
Resentful?
Unsure?
Shout outs and feedback from your customers or folks who are brand advocates
Did the time spent helping your audience make sense related to the price that you sold it for.
The M.Y.N.T. Collective
I’ve mentioned in passing for the past couple of weeks that I am in the process of launching a new resource in March. I’m currently in the process of running the “Alpha” launch of a hybrid Mastermind/Membership.
I began working on this project after spending some time looking at how things went in 2023, what I liked and disliked behind the scenes in my business. I’m sharing what The M.Y.N.T. Collective is, why I’m creating it and the discounted price available to all monthly and annual paid subscribers. I also recorded a 19 minute audio that shares some additional insights about designing and developing products for Creators Getting Paid (behind the paywall)
