How to Get Sponsorships for Your Podcast
I’ve pre-recorded a $37 dollar on-demand workshop sharing what you should consider when looking to monetize your podcast with sponsorships. Even though there are a crazy number of approaches to monetizing your content, sponsorships often are the first thing that most hosts think of doing. Attendees will also get a Media Kit template based off of my personal media kit. Click here to gain access to the webinar.
Cyber Monday-Yes, there will be a few Cyber Monday deals available. Keep an eye out for that.
How to Make Money at Conferences
When I first became a content creator, I used to attend a lot of conferences. There wasn’t a conference that I would say “yes” to. Now, I should also mention that I was attending conferences for content creators in the personal finance space and other conferences adjacent to making money (and creating content) online. Examples include marketing/freelance/outdoor focused content and of course-PODCASTING conferences. Here’s the thing after awhile I soon realized a couple of things about constantly attending attending conferences:
They are distracting
Time consuming
Expensive
Despite the downsides, conferences are an important part of building a brand, but if you’re not careful you can derail what you’re working towards. I now have three questions that I ask myself before saying “yes” to a conference.
3 Questions to Ask
Will the conference move me towards my goals?
Does it offer content that cover areas that I would like to learn about?
Will I have access to content creators who can answer my questions about those topics in person? People who would normally charge for access to them.
Am I excited about the conference location?
I’m going to be honest and say that if I’m not excited about the location, there’s no way you’re getting me on a plane to fly hours across the US or overseas to go there. There are a few conferences in a couple of cities that I have no intention on going to. I also almost always stay longer in town when I attend a conference. Why? It’s easier to network and connect with content creators who are in town for a conference, but will be super busy once it starts.
Will I be able to earn my money back or make money at the conference? Or, ideally both?
If I paid $1,000 to attend a conference (flight/accommodation, ticket, etc.) I have to earn at least the money that I contributed back the following month (as a result of the conference) I also ask myself if attendees of that conference are ideal clients for the products and services that I sell.
How to Earn Money at a Conference
Conferences aren’t just about networking and hanging out together because you love the same things. Conferences are also an opportunity to MAKE MONEY. But, what does this look like and how do you do it? I’m sharing TK tips on strategies to consider.
Get people into your product funnel-If you have a helpful tool or resource that you give out for free, but have monetized on the backend with affiliate links/coaching/courses or other services. How would this work? Create a word that you would share with other attendees and have request that tool via text-to-opt-in. Once they text you, that person will be added to your email list.
Use a text-to-opt-in tool (SMS marketing) such as
You could also refer to the resource on any reference materials or information pages about you and personal your brand that you plan on referring other attendees to during the conference.
