One of my favorite ways that I monetize within my brand is with free to paid resources. These are the helpful toolkits, free workshops or webinars, pdfs and mini-email sequences about a specific topic that you’ve developed to help your audience. While they may be gaining access to the resource for free or up to $20 bucks, the tool itself has been monetized to make money behind the scenes. I’ve shared a workshop with my paid subscribers in this newsletter called “From Free to Paid” walking through some of the logistics of building these types of resources.

Does Google Hate Content Creators?
Did you know that Creators Getting Paid has a podcast? This week I reflect on the following-does Google hate content creators? A lot has been happening in Google’s world and those changes have been affecting our businesses. After checking out the newsletter listen to the episode.

What I Love About Free to Paid Resources
They are free-or super inexpensive tool designed to help your audience member experience a fairly quick win. It should be built as a win-win outcome. Your audience member gets something and so do you. Ask yourself if your free to paid resource is created in a way to move your ideal community member forward and beyond the problem they have been dealing with?
Endless resource designs-There are an endless number of approaches to designing a free to paid resource. You can test things out to find which ones are a good fit for you.
I’ll share a few ideas below.
A newsletter-Creators Getting Paid has been designed as a free to paid resource. In fact, many of your favorite newsletters have been created with monetization in mind.
Workshop-Have you toyed with the idea of hosting a workshop via Zoom to answer a question that you get all the time? DO IT! Offer the workshop as an opt-in and move your audience onto your list.
Write an ebook-In the ebook share another (paid) offer
Host an in-person meetup-I’m actually starting a local meetup group in Denver this summer.
Podcast-I love podcasting so much! The actual podcast content can be the “free” part of the free to paid content. Then you can add ads (Pre/Mid/or End rolls) to a paid item
YouTube Channel-I’m often confused by how many YouTube creators are just focused on earning ad revenue when there are so many ways to make money with a YouTube channel. Share a helpful resource for every single video that you put out.
Unlimited opportunities-Your audience will experience a lot of emotions as they work towards their desired goals. It’s your job to pay attention to what your audience keeps mentioning. Problems=solutions that you’ve designed to help move your audience to their goals.
From Free to Paid Workshop
Mini Workshop
Paying subscribers I’ve attached a mini-workshop (23 minutes) appropriately titled “From Free to Paid” that explores a little more the idea of a Free to Paid offering. Hopefully it will get some ideas going in terms of how you could design a resource or resources that support your community’s end goals while monetizing your brand at the same time.
