It’s finally the kick off of to the summer season. Earlier this week I discussed some steps podcasters can take to take a break at any time of year from producing their shows. How to Get Brand Partnerships Workshop
I realized that having only one date available for my Brand Partnerships Workshop wasn’t ideal. So I’ve decided to host it one more time in-person. I won’t host this workshop again until September 2023.
The first “How to Get Brand Partnerships Workshop” went really well and I am so excited to encourage and support the hosts who attended. I’ve decided to host the workshop one more time on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at 6:00 pm MTN/8:00 pm EST.
This will be capped at 25 attendees. I want to make sure that everyone can ask questions and participate.
Last day to register will be June 16, 2023 (I need to reach out to everyone prior to the workshop)
You will get a recording of the workshop.
While it’s strongly recommended that you attend in-person. But, it’s totally fine if you are unable to attend and need to watch at a different time.
How to Get Media Coverage in 30 Days
Want Media Coverage?
Have you wondered how to get media coverage? I’ve had a lot and I’m going to be launching a series at the end of the month about media coverage. It’s going to ROCK and for the cost of $5 monthly membership-well worth it.
Media Marketing Mastery Course for Paid Subscribers (part of the subscription-content will be behind the paywall) launches on June 26-June 30, 2023. Each day I will share tips on how to strategize your way to media coverage, what to consider and how it can grow your brand authority.
How to Design A Podcast Creator’s Retreat
Right now nine of my friends and I are meeting at an undisclosed location for a creator’s retreat. Let me know where you think we’re at! We are all multi-passionate online content creators. Here is a shortlist of some of the projects and work that we do:
Podcasting content-Some are hosts, others produce for corporate and non-profit organizations.
Freelance writing-Many of these creatives are high earning (six figure) freelance writers. I’ve recently shared my thoughts about freelance writing and what to consider. I’ve included a link to that edition of the newsletter here.
Course creators-I’m working on a pre-recorded workshop about creating courses and in having conversations with my friends found out that we have some similar reservations connected to creating and designing courses.
Workshop hosts-They run workshops covering topics specific to their brands.
And several other types of projects that would take too much time to share in this short newsletter. I’ve mentioned before that the number 1 resource that has made me money throughout the years is my network. But, these folks aren’t just my network-they’re my friends. Last year we met in Denver. And during that retreat we did the following:
Talked about what was working with our businesses.
Shared our struggles.
Asked for help with the projects that we’ve been working on.
But, we had a year to plan for the retreat financially. We also spend a lot of time thinking about what is the purpose of the retreat.
Build personal and professional connections.
Share what is working and what isn’t working with our business.
Connect one another to resources, ideas and collaborative spaces that will grow our brands and businesses.
Retreats are great to participate in…but, they can get pricey. There are some steps that we take to keep them affordable.
How to Plan an Affordable Creative Retreat
When my friends and I created our closed Facebook group a few years ago to support one another in support of our online businesses, we found that it took a lot of TIME and a lot of ENERGY to grow them. We were burning out and slowing down the growth of our businesses.
We learned the hard way that we needed to take breaks from creating.
By the way, conferences aren’t breaks. Even though I spend a lot of time in the mountains when I’m at home and go on quarterly retreats by myself this retreat is one of my favorites because I’m with other creators who want to see me succeed and I want to see succeed.
I strongly recommend participating in something similar to this. Your network is your best work. But, don’t go broke going on these retreats.
7 Tips to Design an Impactful (Affordable) Retreat
It’s one thing to travel with friends and colleagues, it’s another to design an impactful retreat. We make sure to set aside dedicated time to mastermind in-between the fun activities.
Open up a Qube Money account and begin saving towards your upcoming retreat. Qube Money is a digital envelope system where you can create different “Qubes” that are dedicated accounts for different types of savings. If you’re trying to save money towards a trip, paying off a debt or paying for fun gear-the Qube Money app is great resource to use.
Find a large house with multiple bedrooms. We have 10 people attending the retreat (men/women and a spouse) we’ve divided up the rooms and have split the cost between everyone. All participants had to pay for their spot prior to arrival.
Plan the retreat far enough in advance that people have time to save and plan.
Pick a location that is reasonable to get to for everyone. Or, have a conversation about where everyone feels comfortable visiting.
Have a conversation covering expectations around expenses, who is paying whom and a vague itinerary prior to arrival.
Use an app such as Splitwise to easily split bills and know who owes what.
Be somewhat in financial alignment with the other people who will be traveling with you. I love traveling with this group because we never have issues with:
Paying each of our bills
Paying out tips
Paying for accommodation.
Finally, understand that each person will have different goals that they want to achieve while on a retreat. These retreats are successful because we focus on helping everyone achieve whatever their personal goal is for taking attending a retreat.
Next Year is Puerto Rico
My friends and I have already discussed next year’s retreat and it looks like we’re going to Puerto Rico! So, I will begin saving towards next year’s retreat now.
