I’m always ready for when an opportunity that is in alignment with my brand, mission and is helpful to my audience comes my way. About a month ago I was scrolling on Twitter, furiously tweeting about the things that I do (Personal finance, Social Equity, Colorado, Meghan and Harry and other pop culture references)
When I spotted a tweet from a brand looking to partner with influences. Let’s be clear. The brand didn’t say that they were looking for podcasters, YouTubers, or someone on TikTok. They just tweeted that they were looking to partner.
I checked the product and it was 100% in alignment with the type of content that I create, my brand story and the audience that I serve.
Game on.
I furiously got to work and sent over everything that I thought would help them to decide if we could move forward to a conversation.
Then I shared one last thing “I won’t be available for basically the entire week because I’m going on a backpacking trip and won’t have access to the internet.” I was leaving the next day.
My backpacking trip was PHENOMENAL-I was invited to attend as part of a media group for the Fjallraven Classic here in Colorado. Would you be interested on what it’s like to be invited on a media/press trip? Let me know.
$3,000 in My Pocket
When I returned back from the wild I had an email from the brand. They said “yes!” And were happy to pay my rate of $3,000 for 5-7 pre-rolls for an upcoming segment of a season that I’m working on. These are evergreen (I don’t bother with dynamic ad insertion) and, by the way, I’ve raised my price after consulting with another friend in the podcasting space about this deal.
4 Weeks
From the the time I reached out to the brand, was gone for a week and was waiting for payment processing it took a little under 4 weeks to complete this deal.
How Did I Do It?
There are so many ways to make money using social media. While Twitter is my preferred social media platform, the following tips are applicable to other platforms.
