The last couple of weeks of May were tough. I’m happy to report that I finished my 31 Day podcasting challenge and despite the fact that I was questioning my sanity the entire time-I’m really happy that I dug deep and did the hard thing. I’ve shared my 31 Day Recap podcast episode below (it’s short).

31 Day Podcast Challenge Recap

Wow, It’s June!

It’s that time of year in Denver where the weather fights between being chilly or epically hot. Today I’m wearing a sweater . The unofficial start of summer is here and I’m looking forward to getting a lot of stuff done in-between this time of year.

Upcoming Events

This month I thought it would be a good time to check in on your list building and offers. Here are the dates for those Q & A’s.

  • Paying Subscriber List Building Q & A-Tuesday, June 10 from 6:00 pm MTN-7:30 pm MTN/8:00 pm EST-9:30 pm EST

    • Are you struggling with growing your list? Need some feedback, support ideas? Attend this Q & A

  • Paying Subscriber Offer Feedback Q &A-Tuesday, June 24, from 6:00 pm MTN-7:30 pm MTN/8:00 pm EST-9:30 pm EST) Are you building out a product, good or service and need some feedback on it? This is the Q & A to attend.

What Are Your Summer Plans?

This year I’m sticking close to home and going on some road trips. I enjoy exploring my region and I’m planning a road trip to White Sands, New Mexico at the end of Summer/early fall. I won’t be attending conferences this summer and am currently deciding if I will attend conferences in early Fall (there are two that I’m thinking about)

The Power of Crowdfunding

Today’s conversation isn’t the first one that I’ve had discussing the power of Crowdfunding. In fact, I had the opportunity to speak with Anna Deshawn founder of The Qube App and contributor

BlkPodNews™
. In that conversation we discussed how she raised $70,000 dollars to launch her app, how long her campaign lasted and the different logistics that went into running such a successful crowdfunding campaign.

As a person who has run a crowdfunding campaign to fund an in-person event (I raised $10,000 to pay for my Money on the Mountain event here in Denver in 2019) It’s my view that these campaigns are a great way to build momentum, energy and excitement around the work that you’re doing. However, in 2025 and beyond having community buy-in via campaigns such as these may be the way that creatives earn funding for their important work. That’s where today’s guest comes in.

Anela Malik

Feed the Malik

I am so excited that I had the opportunity to speak with Anela about her experience crowdfunding to $55,000 this Spring. If you’re concerned about the economy, wonder if people will support projects that you’re developing-this conversation is the one for you. By the way, this is Anela’s first time running a crowdfunding campaign. I truly appreciate her saying “yes” to a conversation with me.

We Discuss the Following

  • How to fund your work through your network

  • Paying attention to what your audience is telling you

  • The average pledge amount that Anela received and the number of pledges that Anela received

  • What Networks said about the idea that they (she and Michael) were pitching

  • Distributing a show on YouTube 👀

  • Staying true to your vision
